With Halloween right around the corner it’s about time to get into the spirit and kick off the holiday season with some spooky autumn fun. Halloween can be a blast for both young children and adults alike; however, be wary of finding yourself on the wrong side of some ill-intentioned Halloween mischief. There’s nothing quite like the anonymity of hiding behind a mask that can bring out the worst in people. While mostly fun and games it never hurts to be extra safe this Halloween season. Here we’ll look at some basic tips for balancing safety with fun and making the most out this Halloween.
Trick or Treating
One of the best parts of Halloween and always a lot of fun for children is trick or treating. It’s a great chance to show off your costumes and load up on candy. However, there are some things to keep in mind this season when trick or treating to keep your children safe.
Easily the best part of Halloween for children is the fact that it’s the one time of the year that they can binge on sweets without a stern lecture from their parents. However, before you let your kids loose on their loot it’s a good idea to inspect the candy before hand. Look for open or unsealed candy that appears like it might have been tampered with. It’s a tedious task but it never hurts to be extra careful. As a bonus you can also get first pick of your children’s haul when you’re “inspecting” it.
Lastly remember to have fun. Halloween is a great time to spend with your kids and show them that you haven’t totally forgotten what fun is all about.
